Are you an 8th grade student coming to Katy High?

There are always a million questions leading up to big change, and high school is no exception. Here are some facts to help you navigate through all the choices:
  • YOU CAN DO BOTH. Whether you are interested in athletics, other fine arts, FFA, or academic clubs and teams, band still has a place for you! We pride ourselves on working with any organization in the school to make sure you can participate!
  • We teach you everything from scratch. DON'T STRESS if you don't know how to march or spin a flag yet. You will learn these skills in a positive environment over several weeks. 
  • Fine Arts students, and particularly those in the band, are some of the highest ranking students in the district. It is not secret that music helps you develop skills for other disciplines like math, science, history, and reading.
  • Band requires a lot of time, but we also have a great support network. With over 200 members, you are sure to find a tutor, mentor, and friend.
  • The band travels more than ANY organization on campus (including athletics!) With an average of 20 performances a year, you will get the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of people throughout your high school band experience. We even go on a big, out-of-state trip every four years.
  • We are a family. The band hall is home to many of our members, and a place free of judgement. Once you're a member of the band, you are forever part of that family.
